Project Overview
Muuvlink is a free sports community app our agency built for itself: it lets you find sports events around you on a map and join with one tap, start your own team and plan regular training. We wrote its first line in May 2026 and built every stage with our own team, from the name and emblem to product design, software, the store launch and growth work. Today it is live on the web at muuvlink.app, on the App Store and Google Play, in seven languages.
Why We Built It
What holds people back from sport is often not the will but someone to go with. Sunday morning rides, evening running groups and games short of a player are scattered across messaging groups and word of mouth; someone who has just moved to a new neighbourhood, taken up a new sport or wants to train at a different hour cannot see who around them is doing what. Teams, meanwhile, manage their announcements, attendee lists and routes across scattered tools.
Our question was: can we gather nearby athletes and meetups on a single map and bring joining down to one button? We built Muuvlink as our answer, as our own product. To remove the barrier we chose a free model: creating an account, creating events, starting a team and joining cost nothing, with no subscription.
“We wanted to build an app that gets people away from the screen and together on the field. All of Muuvlink's design serves a single moment: the one when you tap ‘Join’ and meet other people on a Sunday morning.”

Who It's For
Beginners
Anyone who doesn't want to start alone and is looking for a group at their level. Events are labelled easy, medium, hard or all levels, and the comments let you ask the organiser before joining.
Regular athletes
Runners, cyclists and swimmers looking for training partners in a new city or on a new route. Public events within 10, 25, 50 or 100 kilometres of their location appear on a map and as a list.
Team leaders and coaches
Captains and coaches who start a team, announce to all members at once, add a second manager and manage the attendee list and capacity in the app.
Organisers
People who run marathons, triathlons and tournaments. Paid events appear on the map with their own pin; registration happens on the organiser's site and Muuvlink takes no share of the fee.
The Solution: Meet by Location
With location access, Muuvlink shows nearby public events on a map and as a list, filtered by sport, date and level. Events close to each other gather in numbered clusters on the map, and those at the same spot fan out when tapped. There is no fixed list of cities: an event can be created wherever its users are.

Join with one tap
Pressing Join is enough, with no approval step; joining closes when the event is full. The event goes into the calendar on your profile, and reminders arrive three days and one day before. The event page shows the location, directions, date, attendee count and organising team at a glance; cycling and running meetups can carry a GPX route.

Start a team, reach every member
Starting a team is free: you pick a name, a sport, a location and the visibility. Public teams appear in search and in search engines; private teams are joined by invitation only. People outside a team see members' names shortened; full names are shown only to members. Teams have a wall, comments and roles (team leader, coach, member).

News on every channel
Notifications arrive in the app instantly, as push notifications on the phone and by email; the channel can be chosen separately for each of thirteen notification types. Events are shared with WhatsApp and Telegram links, email invitations or a ready-made Instagram story card: the more they are shared, the more people see them and the faster they fill up.
Map-First Design
We designed the interface knowing it would be checked one-handed in a pre-training crowd, in the changing room or on the way. The map is the heart of the app: every sport has its own colour and an icon drawn in the same line, so pins tell the sport at a glance. On cards, colour lives only in the icon and headings stay calm; date badges, deep teal event cards and a single yellow action button speak the same language across screens. A product tour and a starter checklist take new users all the way to their first event.

Brand Identity
The name and emblem were born from movement and connection: the Muuvlink emblem is an M made of two interlocking pieces. The palette is deliberately narrow: deep teal on large surfaces, yellow as the single accent, carbon for text and white smoke for backgrounds. No gradients, no emoji; icons come from a single line family and the typeface is Montserrat throughout.

A colour for every sport
The one deliberate exception in the app is sport colours: each of nineteen sports, plus Other, gets a flat colour and an icon in the same line; we drew the basketball, tennis, football, padel, running and rowing icons missing from the lucide family ourselves, in the same line. Map pins, icon boxes on cards and badges all draw from this single source, so the sport of an event is clear before you read a word.

How We Built It
We set out to build Muuvlink as a product a small team can ship quickly, yet one that works with the same quality in seven languages and on three platforms.
One code base, three platforms
The web app is written in React with Vite and carried to iOS and Android with Capacitor; push notifications, the share sheet and haptics are wired in through native plugins. The mobile app is a light 2.4 MB shell, so interface updates reach users without waiting for store review.
The map
Drawn with Leaflet and MapLibre on OpenFreeMap's vector basemap in the brand's colours; nearby events are clustered with Supercluster and place search runs on the open-source Photon. GPX files are read and simplified on the phone, and only the route is sent to the server.
Back end
An API written with Node.js and Express on a PostgreSQL database; images are converted to WebP on upload. In-app notifications stream live from the server (SSE), push notifications go through Firebase and Apple's notification service, and emails through Resend.
Search engines and AI
Most search engines and AI crawlers do not run JavaScript, so event, team and FAQ text is rendered on the server, with structured data (FAQPage, Organization), language versions (hreflang) and IndexNow announcing new pages right away.
Admin panel
Moderation, featured teams and events, email and notification statistics and contact messages in a single panel. New organised events are extracted from race calendars by Anthropic's Claude models and added to the map once the team approves them.
Privacy and safety
The app asks only for approximate location and does not store it. Visitor statistics are kept without cookies; reporting and blocking, a profanity filter in seven languages and shortened names for non-members protect the community.
Timeline
May 2026
First release, the Muuvlink name and emblem, the first redesign.
June
iOS and Android apps, push notifications, mobile navigation.
July–August
Reporting and blocking, the product tour, the corporate palette, search engine and AI visibility, the vector map.
September
Seven languages with Greek, Spanish, French and Italian; the link with Training Agents' AI coach.
October–November
GPX routes, cookieless visitor statistics, iOS 1.2.3 and Android 1.3.1, a new home page and sport colours.
Outcome
Muuvlink is where we test everything we recommend to our clients on our own product: strategy, brand, product design, the map experience, multilingual software, the store launch and growth marketing in one team. Today it brings athletes together around them on the web, the App Store and Google Play, in seven languages.
